Theatre Adventure Happenings
The Wednesday and Thursday Troupe artists have returned following their winter holiday break. What fun we have been having reconnecting and refreshing our creative work together.
The Wednesday Troupe operates in a hybrid format---some students attend online and some students attend in-person. We are continuing our inspiring work with Steve-o, our percussionist.
The Wednesday Troupe actors have been introduced to our original Anansi story that will be performed May 13, 14, and 15. Anansi is a traditional folk hero from West Africa. Anansi is a trickster figure who embraces adventure and opportunities for power. Anansi often finds himself in trouble and needing to problem-solve. The Wednesday Troupe students have a lovely diversity of ages---some are in school, some have recently graduated from school, and some have been out of school for many years. Their common bond is loving being creative, performing on stage, having fun with fellow troupe members, and enjoying storytelling.
The Thursday Troupe includes many experienced actors. They approach the challenge of performing with intentionality, skill, and focus as they prepare for their Coffee House Variety Show, slated for April 3.
The Thursday Troupe is analyzing and practicing "what makes for a great performance?" During this week's class we studied some video snippets from their fall production, Stone Soup. How great it was for them to watch not just themselves, but also their fellow actors and articulate the acting skills they saw being utilized. What's up next? We will be having many acting workshops to continue developing and fine-tuning their acting skills.
The Traveling Troupe has six seasoned actors who present performances and workshops for school groups, gatherings at libraries, non-profits, agencies, and street festivals. The Traveling Troupe has become sought after as positive role models for empowerment, as well as capable leaders of compelling workshops on building compassionate communities, speaking out against bullying, and building relationships as a means to create bridges between differences among people.
This coming week, they will be visiting the Root Social Justice Center to lead a workshop. Later this Winter they will return to the Dummerston School, where they visited several times this past Fall. Traveling Troupe members are paid for their work as performing artists who are professionals in the community, advocating for both neurodivergent and neurotypical individuals.

Important Update about Summer Camp
Our summer camp is taking a hiatus this year. We are not offering a 2026 summer camp session. The Directors are evaluating the finances of running the summer camp. An announcement will be made in January 2027 about next year's summer camp.
