A New Season of Theatre Adventures
Dear Theatre Adventure Community,
We are enjoying the most glorious days of summer---cool nights, perfect daytime temps, spectacular clouds, and breezes that keep the flying insects at a distance. Darest I say, this weather is close to perfection.
We are busy preparing for our new school year. Check out our new show season using the link below!
WEDNESDAY TROUPE will be producing an African folktale that we will be adapting, Anansi and the Talking Drum. Steve-o will be returning as our Visiting Artist, along with the teaching team, Darlene, Laura LT, and Leslie, and Maria, our Technical Director, and Lori our Costumer. Together with our students, we will bring this folktale to life with plenty of percussion, acting, shadow puppetry and movement. We look forward to working with our Wednesday troupe actors, who are delightful, spunky and creative.
The Wednesday Troupe Mentors are essential. They will continue their work as role models, acting buddies, and leaders. Mentors learn to follow through on tasks, practice reflective thinking, be accountable to the whole troupe by attending classes consistently, being on time, and demonstrating support of others in the troupe.
We are enrolling NOW. Please write back if you would like to enroll a Wednesday Troupe member, or if you have any questions. Enrollment deadline is August 18 with a deposit of $25. If this is a hardship, please reach out to us. (laura@theatreadventure.org)
This Fall, the THURSDAY TROUPE will produce a classic folktale that we will be adapting, Stone Soup. It will be performed in November. This tale is about a community that confronts barriers and difficulties and discovers that by uniting, they are able to overcome them.
Thursday Troupe actors will be featured playing characters who express and then address such barriers. Characters, monologues, on-stage working together, leadership opportunities, and more will be the centerpiece of the show.
And then in the Spring, there will be the return of the Coffee House Variety Show in April. Last year's inaugural Coffee House production was so successful, we want to produce another one! The Variety show features individual and small groups of performers who have worked for a few months on their act, which culminates in a showcase of character development, story development, actor collaboration, and troupe skills such as supporting each other's work as performing artists.
The Traveling Troupe will have a busy school year leading workshops and presentations for other groups and schools. Traveling Troupe members are treated as professionals. They are viewed as ambassadors of Theatre Adventure while being expected to be reliable, accountable, and professional at all times.
So, here is to another wonderful new school year of theater adventures! We welcome your input, assistance, and support. Reach out anytime with an email or a phone call. Once the semester begins, please drop in for a visit sometime.
